what model is this? the info on the logbook is very limited i know its a surf ssr ect but is it a mk3 or mk4 ect

is it normal for the red light to come on next to the turbo light if it revs high?

anyone have any idea of the colour?

and will the newer say p reg ect bumpers, arches facelift parts ect fit on this model

    thanks in advance Alex

Hi there & welcome to Surfland!

I think you have yourself a 2nd gen pre-facelift Surf there.

    If you have a 2.4 it'll be known as an LN130, if it's a 3.0 it's a KZN130.

I suspect it's a 2.4 cos I'm not sure if the 3.0 was available pre-facelift but I'm no expert so could be wrong!

Just to confuse matters further, for some reason the engine size on my V5 is stated as 2.0. I expect that's because it's a "2L-TE" engine and whoever registered it obviously assumed that it was a 2L (2 litre) engine. Ho-hum.

Others have it worse, what with the London LEZ stuff (do a search to find all about that little gem!)

Hope you enjoy your stay in the forum. There is a huge amount of information available to search and if you get stuck folks are pretty helpful. The banter can get a bit harsh sometimes so grow a thicker layer of skin & make the most of the expertise!

I have a pre-facelift too, they have a few quirks compared to the post-facelift ones so if you need any help then private message me (you'll have to be a paid up member to do that but I guarantee it's worth it!).

        Thanks,

        Ray.
I've got a plan and it's as hot as my pants!

Why do we think its a pre facelift ? What was the clue to that in the oroginal post ? Its a 2nd gen 2.4. I think Ive got that but was it the turbo lights that gave the clue? I thought that even the facelift 2.4 still had them. Cant be sure mind as my 2.4 was pre facelift.

The word TOYOTA ont he grill instaed of the Toyota Logo is mostly seen on Pre Facelift models. also the studs ont eh chrome bumper are also an indicator of pre face lift.

                      Hello and welcome

Have a look at the tags on the seat belts they should have a date code. Then you will have a better idea of when it was made, unless someone has changed those as well.

Does the VIN plate area look clean/dirty/scratched do the rivet holes look like they have been drilled out?

Orange bits on the sidelights and square headlamp units as well as the previously mentioned "TOYOTA" on the front grill.

Well thats all the clues one would need, but I cant see a pic in the post at all. No link, no box with a cross in , absolutely nothing. Not a hint that there is or ever has been a pic there. I can see the the thumbnail in MWS post. The original posters pic must be on a hosting site that websense is blocking or something. I did wonder if I was missing something when Rixtar posted, but thought that maybe he was just telling the OP how to identify a prefacelift.
