Cover your truck with spray glue and ram raid halfords, you will probably come out with something at least as good as those light pods

I think most people use a thule or toyota roof rack bar and drill it for spots, I think the original toyota bars are lower profile than the aftermarket bars so more sort after.

Even with 3M`s good reputation I wouldnt double sided tape anything of any importance to the outside of my truck, and the lamps are not E marked which means they are most likely cheap chinese rubbish and will have no light diffusion and generate enough heat to melt the plastic pod they are fitted in

      I found these on Fleabay.

I was toying with the idea of buying some but I need to check that I'll fit under the height restriction barrier at work before I do.

Adjusts from 48 inches to 60 inches to fit all Cars/Vans/4x4s with rain gutter
2nd gen Surfs have no rain gutter.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

OK, so I don't own this truck anymore, but you can do it this way on the front of a rack from direct 4x4, which works quite well...

Or this way on a Thule bar, which works really well...

                  Gosh, I miss that truck...

I have a spare Thule roof bar going. Actually, I've got a pair but I plan to use one of them for mounting lights on my Surf.

I could let you have it for, say £15 plus postage? It isn't in perfect condition cosmetically (it's missing the little plastic clip on covers that go over the fitting mechanism) but it looks ok and is perfectly servicable. If you're interested let me know and I'll pop some photos up.

                        Your truck looks freaking sweet

Do you mind telling me what body lifts etc you needed to get those wheels and tyres on? Are they 33s? I'm new to all this and am still learning?

                        Cheers

Roof racks etc for Surfs must be one of the top ten most discussed issues in the truck's history and I've never understood why Toyota even made it a questionable thing.

It's an awesome looking vee hickle with a longer roof than many, it looks sweet on the beach and they've even called it a Surf. But you cant even put your board on it!?!?!?

Anyway I still love mine and here's a coupla shots of what I've done up top in terms of racks and lights. Problem is the lights are too far forward, massive glare off the bonnet.

That windsurfer is brilliant. What is it, a Dufour Sun or something! Takes me back. 80's-tastic!!!!

At the risk of straying back on topic, I am in favour of the Thule/rectangular lights combo - especially with a lift and 33's, otherwise you will never get under anything ever again...
