  • Yet another random idea I need your help with, water detector?

Ok heres my usless thought, my nice shiny new snorkel arrives in the post next week and I am worried about some kid (or some ****) thinking it would be fun to pour water into the top while im not looking or at work/asleep. (hey, ive seen kids fill gas tank with garden hose so why not the snorkel)

My idea at the moment is to put some kind of sensor into the filter housing to detect water and shut everything down to prevent damage, also could be usefull if wading through water and some gets in and shut engine down before damaged.

Currently thinking of adapting a float sensor from a fuel filters water sensor, any other bright ideas?

Also a photo of whats arriving next week, just for ya all to drool over

Of course you will get water down it...it's a drain pipe. I have one just like it on the side of my house.

Just kidding. It looks quite smart. Where is it from??

Oh, and move to the UK...kids don't do stupid things like putting water in fuel tanks or snorkels....they simply steal the whole car.

Local guy makes them custom for any truck, prices here work out so its cheaper for the steel one than the safari plastic one ($350 for stainless steel vs $450 for safari)

Fishtank water level alarm - a few quid of ebay.
it has two sensors, when in a fish tank the lower sensor is usually covered with water so you will have to short it out to fool it. But put in your air filter housing any water and the upper sensor will alarm.
