  • Expedition roof rack - date with the angle grinder

Does nobody want a free expedition roof rack for their truck? I have offered it here before, but it needs to be collected from near Exeter.
It is getting in my way now and will be having an intimate session with the angle grinder between Xmas and New Year.
    Get in touch.
    Cheers,
    Mark

I remember you posting that offer before. Weren't there arguments over it or am I thinking of something else?

What size is it? (length, width, breadth). I might know someone who would be interested...

Yes, I have put it on here before but despite the interest shown, nobody has been to collect it.
Dimensions are 2.45m long, 1.3m wide and the side rails are 12cm deep. Even comes with 4 spotlights!
      Cheers,

        I'm quite interested mate.
I just need to check about getting something to attach it to on the roof of my 3rd gen.

I'm driving down to Devon at Christmas so it's on my way.

If it's not a damn fool question, would it just fit to a set of standard roof bars?
Will I need any extra clamps for it?

It''s quite long - will I need any extra bar above the front doors - or does it just hold securely to bars in the normal channels?

          Any ideas?

                Mork/Eddleston,
It is too long to go inside a Surf without sticking at least half a metre or so out of the back. It is the full length of the roof.
The previous owner of our truck had it attached to standard Thule roof bars with jubilee clips. This will be fine when empty, but I would suggest thet some form of support at the front would be needed when loaded up. The previous owner used it to transport canoes - bulky but not very heavy.
I am away between Sat lunchtime and Sunday evening for the next 2 weekends but will be around over the Xmas period.
I am about 7 miles east of J29 the M5 so we are fairly easy to get to.
                Cheers,
                Mark

If the chap can collect it on the 18th, let him have it.

It was just a passing fancy on my part.
If it falls through, give the thread a bounce and I'll see if I'm still in the mood.

                        Ballsy,
For some reason I can't send a PM at the moment. Yes you can come and collect the rack on Sunday 18th, but not before 3.00 in the afternoon.
If this is OK then I will see you then.
I will have a look at why the PMs aren't working and send you some directions.
                        Cheers,

You need to pay subs to the forum to use the PM function
