  • Insurance - MODIFIED LIFTED Surfs

Just a note on todays calls with insurers to get some new quotes. It would seem that insurers are getting more nervous about modded vehicles as many of the below insure other forum members with modded vehicles so guess that they may have changed their parameters.

    Insurers called who wouldn't insure:
Performance Direct - only insure if not main vehicle
Premium Choice - only insure if not main vehicle
Sureterm - only insure if less than 3 inch sus lift
    Admiral - wouldn't touch it
NFU - Will not insure anything with altered suspension
    Footman and James - wouldn't
    Tesco -No imports
Mark Richard (previously Tett Hamilton) won't touch anything lifted - interestingly the guy I spoke to said they did insure someone with a lifted 4x4 who rolled it so they decided not to insure anything lifted any more!
Liverpool Victoria - Don't insure Surfs
Frank Pickles - No imports or mods

    Insurers who would:
A-Plan - BUT only TPFT because its not worth enough for fully comp (if I had valued it at £3K or even said that I bought it for £3K and it had devalued to is current value they would have insured fully comp!)
    Lifesure - would but pricey
Insurance factory - Would but even pricier

Waiting to hear back from Noel Dazely and if not will go with Flux

I know LV have changed their rules for new policy quotes and don't cover any grey imports.

Renewals are not a problem however, cos they cover me and it is clearly noted on my insurance documents that it is a Toyota Surf (4-Runner Import). Not sure if they would quote me for another import given that I'm an existing customer and I get slightly different treatment to a standard quotation cos I'm a member of the CSMA.

For the amazingly positive experiences I've had with them in the past it would have to be a pretty major price difference to persuade me to change.
