I did think the engine temp monitor was quite good for the price, considering what others are available and the price is quite steep in comparison

That looks alright for 80 quid.

I would think it would be better on the head. The head is the weak link and the first to suffer from hotter temperatures, Also if the head is monitored it is more likely to show a fault in the cooling system quicker as the aluminium will pass the heat quicker than any other point on the engine. IMHO
