Yesterday evening I changed the engine oil - bit stoopid as it was blowing a gale, so oil and everthing blowing everywhere - it was a right mess. Anyway, I put some new oil in and left it.
This morning it was not so windy, so before breakfast went out to start it and top up. Switched on the ignition and saw the "BACK DOOR" light was on. Started up to fill the oil filter, tried the back window switch - window would only go down, not up! Switched off ignition, engine carried on running rough, had to stall it. Started up again and switched off, same thing happened....
Thought, "S*d it", and went in for brekkie.
When I came out again very peed off, tried key in tailgate. - same thing, window would only go down, not up again.
Checked oil. Just below min, so topped up slowly till full.
Started engine, "BACK DOOR" light not on, tried switch, up it went, down it went, and up it went again. Switched off, engine stopped. Everything now works OK.
Conclusion : Slightly low new oil causes back window to fail and engine to run on.
