couple Q,s from a newbie

i,ve just got my 1st surf Lreg 2.4 manual
my first Q [appologies in advance for my noviceness]whats the correct way to work/use the 4wd system its quite a bit different to shogun i had.
second Q theres a unit in the middle of the roof inside vehicle wich i,m assuming is something to do with the a/c but again how does it work / what do you do with it.

dont use 4wd on grippy surfaces as you dont have a centre diff,
when things get slippy, push 4wd and wait for it to engage and off you go....

only use 4wd when on a loose surface, the button on the side of the lever engauges 4hi, then shift forwards for 4lo. for more info try searching as im sure you'll find your answers. other than that the elders will be along with more details
