  • Advice on tyres

Hi. We are looking to replace all four tyres on our gen 3 but not sure which to go for. Bf Goodrich are really out of our price range (new clutch and replacement gearbox on other car put stop to them). We have very similar quotes for General Grabbers and Bridgestone Duellers 689. Having never used any does anyone have any suggestions as to which is best. Both ate all terrains and will be for use mainly on the road with a small amount of off road. Expecting lots of snow here this year so need to be good in snow.

I had General grabbers AT2 on my Cayenne Turbo; they were great in snow, and mud. They have replaced the AT2 with AT3 now, but the tread pattern is not as aggressive as before, so can’t comment on AT3.

If they're AT2's grab them cos they work as well as BFG's although they don't last as long allegedly - otherwise you'll have to wait for somebody that knows about Duellers and AT3's

Have a look at Toyo Open Countries as well, my work colleague has a big fat Jeep Cherokee type thing with them on and say's they were great in the snow last year.

I've got a pair on the rear of my Surf and will be getting a matching set for the front sometime soon.

LOL, yea I do a lot of shooting on farms in the winter, and needed some tyres with grip.

I fitted Insa Turbo Mountain AT tyres, next to no road noise, good at light off-road but dont know about snow yet as I only got them on a few months ago. Excellent road manners and only came to £380 fitted for the 4 from Tyre Spot.

Had four of the new General Grabber ATs fitted a couple of months ago.
The tread looks a lot more aggresive in the flesh than the photos suggest. Very impressed with them, they are much quieter and handle much better on the road than the Nexen AT that was on before. Not had a chance to try them off road or in the snow yet.

Dont think they will be as good in mud & snow.

                          Maybe!
But at the price and the fact the OP is looking at tyres from the financial side as well it made sense, apart from that they were recommended by a couple of other members as well. Anyway they are A/T's more road biased but they are quiet with decent grip in the rain, dirt tracks and fields so i would presume they would hold there own in the snow, but time will tell..

                            Cool

TBH I was imagining something a bit more aggressive. Think big sidewalls & white lettering

Thanks for all the advice. Have checked out the camskill website and managed to get good price on B F Goodrich's. Will see what fitting costs will be and may go for these. If fitting too expensive then think we are leaning towards the Grabbers.
