I didn't think about Vaseline

I will give it a good wipe down and put it back on charge

From what I recall they're a gel electrolyte sealed battery which can be used in any orientation so shouldn't leak unless something is very badly wrong.

I'd go with the vaseline theory if its not much - save it for the bedroom!

Its my "well if this don't start it ,its fooked battery"

quite religously and yes some may say quite sad it gets a trickle charge first monday of the month overnight 1-2 amps at start of cycle, same as yesterday just checked it and the charge rate is just enough to move the needle off the stop but all round the NEG terminal is a clear liquid .

Wiped down the terminals and will keep an eye on it, Like you said APACHE I thought they were gel as well?
