right mine is a G145,

G = 8"

14 = 4.88 gearing

5 = 4 pinion LSD

With your 33s you don't want to drop the gearing - it'll make the truck less drivable (reduce top speed uphills, etc)

Incidentally, if you give me a shout when you're likely to do it I'll gladly give you a hand cos I was thinking about upping the gearing to 5.29 on mine (and maybe installing a locking diff at some point) so it'd be good to watch & assist!

Oh yeah, thought I'd better add that the 8" is for the rear diff. I think all 2nd gen Surfs have a 7.5" front diff (and I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong on that one!)

where is the bulk head is that next to the rocker cover?

In the engine bay, as close to the windscreen as you can get there is a metal plate with chassis no, engine no, colour codes, axel codes, trim/finish codes, etc.
