Sounds like a complete ar*ehole to me. Officers of Staff Rank (Major and above in the Army) are entitled to a guard of honour usually taken from the Warrant Officers of the Regiment concerned.
We don't toast absent friends, we toast fallen comrades and its not a frequent thing, certainly never at a wedding. We'd never be so rude as to only offer half of the guests a drink, that's disrespectful and shows an utter lack of understanding of basic manners let alone proper protocol.
The RAF have never been very proficient in drill (QCS excepted), tradition or protocol. They are civvies in uniform, brilliant at their jobs though.
