  • Hi from Scotland

Hi, my hubby and I have just joined the forum and are looking for our first Surf. Been to see one today but not nice and owner had lied about advisories on MOT which meant lots of work needed done. Also felt very unsafe on road, even around small bend in road at 30mph was bouncing out at back end. We are travelling down south on Thursday to look at a car from this forum so, fingers crossed, by Thursday evening we will have our new car.

Hello Kareen, hello to you both. Good luck with your search. If you are buying from a forum member, you stand a better chance of buying an "honest" truck. Hope it works well for you....Cheers....Mick.

I am assuming you are joking. We are travelling a long way and are obviously wary after our big let down yesterday.

I do remember him getting it & from the pics I've just seen it looks a bargain.
Same as mine with similar milage.

I was joking by the way, best thing about buying from the forum is that we all know what he's had done to it so we know it's not going to be a lemon.

I thought you were joking but was just checking. He certainly seems genuine enough and we really like the look of the truck. The one we looked at was the first surf we have ever driven. It was a gen 2 and it was really rather scary. We have spoken to a surf enthusiast who assures us that it was probably because it had had too high a lift done for road use and we shouldnt feel like that in other ones. We will be using it for towing in future once we get a tow bar fitted.

Bouncy back end could be knackered dampers. Lift only creates a bit more body roll.

                        hello perth

best of luck with the future purchase

my gen 2 is lifted and drives like a car - the one you tried must have had something a wee bit wrong somewhere

You certainly notice a difference when you drive a 3rd gen, more like a big family car than a tank, good for towing as I lug around a twin axle caravan with mine & it pulls great.

...and the extra twelve alternators, to run the tongs don't appear to make a difference.

Hello down there. Hope your long journey is worthwhile.
