Supercharged 4.6 V8 makes less bhp than my stock N/A 3.2! - only 30 lb-ft more too....

Thats what happens when you bung an engine together. Other factors could be drive train, though.

Nothing wrong with building engines!!! come to think of it my home built 2.0 twin turbo engine was about 300 bhp too.... waay less torque though.
