The one used in this rescue must be a good choice.

You can get polymer snow ropes specifically for snow rescue, theyre impregnated with long chain salt molecules to stop them from icing up... pretty cool eh?!

So the edit on post 1 is a little pointless, as is the new question as we have no clue what you are rescuing or indeed what the rescue vehicle is unless it is your sig vehicle. A starlet might struggle as a mobile recover/rescue vehicle

yea the starlet wouldnt be the best thing for pulling someone up a hill in the snow, but thought id change it just so you can throw some new stuff at me :P

I think the 'stretchy' ones referred to are kinetic recovery ropes - damned dangerous in the hands of the untrained to say the least !

Bob's right. I pulled a tree out with a 10m kinetic rope. When it finally tore free it sailed thru the air and bounced off the spare tyre! Since then i have learnt to have an arrest strap tied to the tree as well, or cover the rope with a heavy cloth to dampen the energy. Now just imagine a recovery eye doing the same towards you. Don't think yours or their insurance would be valid.

I think if you're towing on the road that is perfectly correct Al but I would imagine if you're only towing a short distance you would probably get away with it as long as you weren't doing anything too daft.

I remember seeing someone towing at 100mph on about 5 foot of rope while I was watching one of those "Police Camera Action" type TV shows.
