Bit like when my missus got the tall mirror out,she placed it on the bedroom floor, striped off naked and stood with both legs ether side! "at that moment i had just walked in the room"! I did not hesitate for a second,I ran at here at full speed and tackled her to the ground!

"jesus" she said "you nearly broke my ####ing arm"
I said "if you ####ing fell down there, you would have broke your ####ing neck!!!"
Not going to rest till its broke

She's spoken to 2 different suppliers, both put her off real and engineered wood (even though it's far more expensive) and convinced her to go for a high quality laminate. Her biggest issue is that she doesn't want scratches or dents on the floor.

Thanks for your help and advice chaps, the decision has been made. It's Quick Step laminate for us.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

Where is the damage coming from?

The thing with real wood, or even laminate with a wood top layer, if you dent it it looks ok, wear and tear is natural etc, the other stuff if you dent or scratch it it looks nasty and may write off a plank, which would mean taking part of the floor up to replace.

Quick Step is what i've got down.

It's good stuff and well worth the money. Just make sure you order the foil sided extra thick underlay. Keeps the floor quiet and the cold out.

You'll love it when it's done.
            Now it's time to play!

just been reading this post and the word gripfill keeps coming up WHATEVER YOU USE TO STICK FLOORS DOWN WITH DO NOT USE GRIPFILL
when the floor expands and contracts the gripfill will not move with it and it will just de bond
you need sika bond, elka, or rewmar or similar either in the gun type or trowel on
I have been installing wood and laminates since 1999 these are tried and trusted methods dont cut corners it will only lead to misery

Absolutely agree with the above, Gripfill has a place in the building trade but fitting floors aint one of them, as stated in my first post the correct adhesive is not cheap.
