I know real numpty question but....

How do I know if my surf s an efi? its a 2.4 tdi LN130 1991 with side blimps on the lights

I am trying to search for a alternator on ebay but so many different types??

If you have an air sensor in the air filter box then it is EFI .

Whats on the metal part of the intake over the rocker cover?

Non EFI trucks have D-Turbo on them, EFI trucks have EFI Diesel on them.

Also EFI truck only have the trottle cable going to the intake, older trucks have it going to there, then a rod to the fuel pump.

Look for a 3L 2.8Ltr alternator. That's what I have on mine. Might be a slight difference in vacuum pump hose connection location, but that's not a problem.
