Technically, if you pump them up really hard, so only the center bit actually touches the road, thats all you need to cover.

But by that time the Plod will have got ####ed off with you and you'll be on a hiding to nothing, best to just nod and go and do it.

Sidewall tread is tricky, if they are complaining about tread sticking out being dangerous, obviosuly they are going to point at any sidebiters on gnarly tyres, even if you try to say its not tread, as you could see blocks on the side of the tyre being far more dangerous than a smooth sidewall.

I'm not sure its officially a pedestrian issue, the law was orginally about reducing spray on wet roads. But its not something the Old Bill at the side of the road are usually interested in discussing, they just think you're being awkward.

Have to aggree, it never pays to give em an argument, but some are really annoying, they make a big issue over a piddley thing, luckily i only ever had a couple of "ravers" one when i parked in front of the ploice stn/law courts while my work mate popped in to pay his fine, (i had a large "hawson" body'd van and a compressor on the back,) couldn't find anywhere to park, we were there about 3 minuits, this cop actually run out and went mad at me, he was so wound up he was spiting when he yelled,
the other was at 3am i was on yellow lines attending an emergancy drain blockage with the jetter, road was empty, had to park right outside the house so the jet hose would reach through the house etc, 3 in the morning, buggerall traffic, the lad came running through and said thers a cop outside giveing you a ticket, ran through and this guy was going mad, you've created a "chicane" (?) and pointed to a car parked opposite, i protested that it wasn't there when i parked and i was in fact attending an emergancy call, the bastd give me and the other car a ticket, got mine squashed on appeal thankfully,
ya just got to bit your tounge and say sorry! i'll get that fixed

Hi all. Just lifted these images off the Spanish site. Hope the OP doesn't mind. Pics are self explanatory. The rubber moulding must be available online....Get Googling.....Another option is the final pic. Wider arches. Good luck with finding a set, though......Hope this helps.....Mick.

Edit. Just added another pic of EXTRA wide arches, widened further with a wee rubber strip...........Happy now, officer?.........

god knows what they must think of our road then! Built in the days when horses were family transport!

Did catch one cop car going the wrong way up our road one night, and politely informed him that it's one way. He didn't say anything. Not a word. Just crept slowly past.

That's one of my "pet peeves", Andy. While I'm out on lessons, I see some appalling driving by police drivers. Even my pupils sometimes comment on it. Since the cops are the ones policing driving standards out on the roads, I for one, would like to see some of them setting a better example!.....Cheers....Mick.
