Does this make sense?
MOT test certificate
You must produce an MOT test certificate that’s valid on the day the tax disc comes into force. A certificate that expires on the last day of the month eg 30 April can’t be used if the tax disc is to start on the first day of the following month eg 1 May.
Copied off the dvla website.
Makes you wonder what is more important, someone who has legitimately tried to tax their vehicle or is it more important to try and catch you out and slap a big fine on you?Eat.Sleep.Surf.Repeat.

That doesn't sound right to me either.
Even if there was just a couple of days left on the MOT cert or insurance, it is still valid and therefore should not preclude you from acquiring a road fund licence on that day.
You could probably argue the toss with them but it sounds like they will still tell you to sling your hook.
I would just find another post office. Now it's time to play!

It's bollix mate.
You can use it to tax no problem as its all mot'd and insured.
I asked about it once as i had only 2 weeks mot left and they said as long as the mot was still valid then its fine.
Go and bitch slap them with a wet kipper.PayPal for stickers : scuffsnscrapes@hotmail.com

No you dont. The rozzers, are not so concerned with not displaying, as long as you show up actually having it/it's in the post etc. When Vince and Jo, delivered Lexurf, Jo got stopped by the traffic police. It was not displaying a tax disc, but showed up as having one, albeit in the post. They were more interested, in whatwas under the bonnet.Non intercooled nothing.

Actually we were stopped because Lexurf's reg. triggered the ANPR camera for not having an MOT.
I obtained the MOT the previous afternoon and had the certificate in the truck to show them but it hadn't shown up on the DVLA data base.
But what Graham said was also true, the truck was not displaying a tax disc because he bought it on-line the evening before. The cops didn't say anything about it.

the police wont touch you for not displaying if you have done it online at all. although parking attendants and traffic wardens can be funny about it. mine usually comes within 5 days of doing it onlineCompletely bitten by the off road bug, and what better vehicle to do it in!

Admittedly it was before the days of t'intarweb & stuff but I got done for not having road tax while I was in the post office getting it on the way home from my MOT.
Also, I knew of a guy who had a pretty serious accident on the Aston Expressway (A34M I think) where he was hit head on by a car in the wrong lane. Nearly lost his leg actually but was in hospital for a while.
Anyways, his bike remained at the scene of the accident for a while before it was recovered. He got done for not displaying road tax (it had gone flying during the impact), although he did successfully appeal it at court...
I suppose it all depends on whether you park near a jobsworth copper/traffic warden/etc.

You have 5 days into the next month to display the tax disc if purchased online.
I've never had to wait that long for a new tax disc to arrive, even over the Christmas period. In fact I ordered the tax for the mondeo at 14:20 on the 28th, and it arrived this morning (yes we even had morning post for once).Gone from 4x4 to 1x2
