If V8's get their nice "burble" from the 8 seperate pulses of exhaust gas exiting 2 pipes like this..

Would it be possible to split the zorst pipe after the headers and run one pipe a 1/2 wavelength longer to get 8 seperate pulses from 4?

I've had this in my head for ages, just want to know if it would work!

It would sound more like a scooby burble.
On the wifes sport scooby I've fitted borla unequal headers and it has the proper scooby sound . Just lacks the turbo power.

No.
V8s make their unique sound because of seperate exhaust manifolds and the firing sequence of the cylinders.
The Lexus V8's firing order for example is: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
One of the cylinder banks is odd numbers, the other side even numbers.

A four cylinder engine's firing order is: 1-3-4-2- and one manifold.

Yes, I know about firing orders and manifolds etc..., but ultimately there's still 8 pulses coming down the tube/s on a V8, so could one simulate this with 4 timed to come out as 8, or shall I stop wasting my time and start saving up for the inevitable

I'd quit wasting your time and save the money for the inevitable. Might be cheaper to buy one of those sound racer thingies!
