Just got back from a week in the lake district...
having an old dog that can't walk far we spent most of our time trawling around finding all the twisty roads and hidden wonders up there....
Went over kirkstone pass, hardknott pass and wynrose pass to name a few.
Found some great waterfalls and had a rather spiffing time......
Truck towed me tin snail quite well on the M5-M6 till we got to Shap Fell which seemed to go on for ages.... diesel was £1.55 at the top, thieving #######s....
temp crept up to just on the end of the temp sign squiggle but no where near the red.....
Even found that i got more miles to a tank trolling about then when i'm at home running back and forth to work.... stumps me why.... woooop .^. weeeeee could be the answer......
Had an annoying squeak, so i told her to get out, not really, sorry love if you read this.....
thought it was shot front anti roll bar link so got me spanners out and took the whole thing off... whoo scary......scary my arse seemed no different at all, possibly better......
squeak turned out to be rear shock lower mount, so applied small amount of grease scavinged from the caravan tow hitch slidey bit and wahay no more squeak......
Came home saturday on the hottest day we had and once again we entered the realms ohh fack are we going to overheat....
well we did venture into the upper squiggle region but soon cooled when we resumed flat or downhill travel..
slight scare when in the services as i think i over filled the expansion bottle during the week and it expeled a little down the nearside chassis rail...
didn't help that the mrs emptied the dog water down the same side making it look like we bust a pipe......
Not convinced that my surf is a good tow truck but once unleashed she performed great and did all we wanted from her...
even found a few "unfit for cars" roads and went for a jolly.
Not proper green laning but fun......

So now got no anti roll bars at all and me starter motor has developed the clickety click no starty problem.....
Still love it to bits......... which is what seems to be happening...
Now how much was that v8 conversion..... mmmmm

glad ya had a good time, it sounds like the old back-up fan mod jobby would help when your towing, an extra electric fan and an electric water pump all controlled manually or via a switching relay, starter! first step is replace the brushes i guess
