That is certainly sad news, one of my favorite american actors too, been in some good film too Anzio come to mind but he'll always be remembered as Columbo, read the news on wikipedia, he was turned down by the US army due to his "eyesight" which was due to haveing an eye removed due to a tumor, but joined the merchant marine insdead, you tend to forget that many of these older american actors were in the 2nd ww, Lee Marvin was the sole survivor of his platoon after a jap ambush in the pacific island hopping campain, they thought he was dead,Too young to die and too old to give a tossComment
