Depends what you mean - I had a Hyundai Sonata 2.5l V6 for a while until the auto box went wrong.

Nice comfortable smooth drive, reasonable acceleration.

I don't know much about them other than that.

As a means of moving people and belongings, fine. As a tool for recreation, rubbish.

The reason I ask is they seem to be taking on the likes of BMW M5, Mercedes CLS 550C, Lexus LS 460, etc. but with a smaller price tag.
            Look what America gets....................

They even get a newly devolped, 5.0 four cam, 32 valve, 429bhp V8!

Given that Hyundai are a huge manufacturing concern who build a large amount of the worlds semiconductors amongst other stuff, I'm sure it is / was just a matter of time before they start making a decent fist of car manufacture.

                  MMMmmm... cam chains

There seems to be more engines going back to cam chains in the last couple of years. Autocar were praising the Subaru Legacy flat 6 for having cam chains this week.

I can remember a time when Datsun ( Nissan) and Toyotas were considered pretty rubbish, and were pretty rubbish in comparison with European cars Remember the Datsun Violet? the Datsun Cherry ?
I suppose the Likes of Hyundai and Kia will go through the same phases of evolution. Eventually, and it may be happening already, they will become reliable and desirable just like Nissans and Toyotas have become.
