He all just a quick question do the front hubs have to come off to replace the bronze bushes ,or will I get away with just taking the driveshaft out and leaving the hub on the truck ?

Take it off. Easy job.
Undo the shock, crack the ball joints and take off caliper, tie it up out of harms way.
Undo hub circlip, and get a 54mm socket to make life easy.Alan

Ok thanka just found an old right up tonyn did saying you saying you can do them on the truck but will decide when I got it all jacked up what'd the 54mm socket for I didn't think you had to undo the main nut but I do have a 54mm socket already im my tool box at workAlways up to my neck in it

That 54mm nut is for the wheel bearing right? and dosnt hold the shaft in place at all once you have the outer 6 bolt flange and bits off its just the circlip and washer at that end right if not what rose is there? and yes I am a mechanic who specialises in mainly German car NOT 4x4s I have never worked on a 4x4 of this age BMW x5 any Audi q7 are very diffrent just trying to make sure I got all the infoAlways up to my neck in it

Nope, the socket is for the locknut and inner nut, tapered bearings inside, you won't be chasing wee bits round the workshop. Support caliper after you take it off and the rest is easy peasy.Alan

There no right or wrong, I leave the hub on, but have done loads and have a sure way of driving the new inner bush in completely square, its awkward to get to and not much room.
Its easier having the hub on the bench for sure, you could also leave the disc on though and just unbolt the two ball joints instead of risking splitting the rubbers splitting them, and unbolt the TRE fittings from the hub to save messing with the TREs themselves for same reason.
I unbolt the driveshaft, remove drive plate and circlip, pull shaft and knock bushes out with a long round bar.
Then I fit outer bush, mount inner bush on an old outer stub shaft and offer it up to inner of hub, and drive the bush in by hitting the edge of the old stub shaft from between the lower wishbone.
You can also pull them in with a long bit of studding and some thick washers if you don't fancy hitting things.
Bare in mind I have to usually do things with a nod towards not charging to much labour, so need to balence time taken against how much to bugger about. If you doing your own car then take your time, and strip down and check other parts while you down there like the wheel bearings and ball joints.4x4toys.co.uk - Keeping you on and off the road...

ok thanks everyone got all the info I need now my plan,was to. try and pull it in using studding and some big washers
I orderd all the bits last night from r/t so should be hear tomorrow will be my first job when bk from holiday but now gota go pull the engine out a 3.2 carrera this one got a nice hole in the block lolAlways up to my neck in it
