        Hi Bob,

Yes the V fan, I got the oil from a radio control
model car shop, £3.99 per bottle (used 2) maybe
ST10,000 is a little over the top but it works.
        Hope this helps.

        Gman.

I replace the 3000 with 5000, and adjust the drive plate so it comes online at lower rad temps, but didn't want the push the noise or drag on performance to far, especially with other peoples trucks.

Post up if you notice any MPG dent or other issues over time.

              What's this mean Tony?

I thought the fan ran constantly?

Nope, its far more interesting than people think, there is a bi-metal spring on the front of the hub, the hotter the rad gets, it unwinds (or winds up, I dunno which) opening a valve, letting oil circulate around the hub drive rings, by opening more rings to oil, it slips less as each ring fills up with oil (there are 4 of them) so in effect its got 4 'speeds'.

You can adjust this valve, so the valve opens at lower temps, by adjusting two screws in slots inside the hub.

You know Toyota list a 10,000Cst silicone oil, so its not that over top, just don't know of it being used stock on any fan.

(I have the part number somewhere, but its cheaper to get it from model shops in bigger bottles.)

Now I knew there was a reason I get Tony to carry out such jobs...
                  .... Which was nice.
