  • Ride height

    hello all.... stupid question time...

I need to get new rear shocks for my LN130, and since they are going to be got mail order, i need to know what to ask for. The problem is I think my yoke has been lifted (this is only from comparing it to photos online), so I assume if i knew what the original ride height was (from centre of wheel to top of arch), I could work out what I needed?

or if someone wiser just knew from looking I would appreciate their opinion... thanks

    Yoke?

The truck looks pretty standard. Maybe you think it looks higher because it's not got a saggy arse.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

        I'm still none the wiser.

I just said it 'looks' standard, not that it is standard. Maybe best to wait for a 2nd opinion.

Have a look at the tops of the shock dampers do they have a cap with wires on? (hard/soft) if they do they are standard.

I've heard the country boys over here refer to their motor vehicles as 'yokes'.
Something like, "My tools are in the back of the yoke." Maybe it's to do with it's association to animals that carry or transport things. I'm just guessing that mind you

Hello David Your truck looks to me, like it's had a 2" lift. Do a search on here and you should be able to find what the distance between wheel arch and wheel centre should be on a standard Surf. If it has been lifted, it could be either a suspension lift (Longer back springs, or a spacer between the top of the spring and the chassis.), or a body lift (You should see a gap between chassis and body, under the rear wheel arch, of around 3".) If it's suspension, you may want to go for longer dampers. If it's body, standard length dampers will do.....Cheers....Mick.

Measure bottom of rim to top of wheel arch on all four corners and post the results.

GBV2.... yeah thats my understanding as well

and the height from the bottom of the rim to the top of the arch is 770mm on three corners except for the drivers rear which is 750mm - but since the mount at the top of the shock is completely rusted away, this doesnt surprise me...

and thanks for all the replies
