Advise on starter motor

Last year I fitted new RT contact kit,as you may have read last week it let me down so off to local auto electrics to be checked out, they said brushes are in good nick just sticking so they freed them off and cleaned them, its now playing up again ie not fireing all the time on first turn of the key it seems there is nothing else I can do ? RT new starters not a lot to buy so is this the way to go ?
