Blob heads

I'm over 'ere at the mo' and I've been watching those 'us cops are tough' programs.
Why do they Blob out the crims heads?

Human rights issues.......Innocent till proven guilty and all that .

Because they're really really ugly and that level of indecency is not only unlawful on British TV, it's also out of respect for people who know them.

No one was saying they were guilty, half the time they are cautioned and released anyway.
It seems stupid to have a TV show where the people that are the stars of the show have their heads blobbed out!
What is the point of showing these programmes in HD?
