  • advice pls on setting up a web page

Its time my business went www, thinking of displaying examples of my work etc for people to see.
Not selling anything online, so no shopping basket stuff. Just a site with pics.
Looked at the "free" ones, but I want my own address without their add on bit.
Any tecchies out there can advise please?

one.com hosting is free website builder you buy your domain name then use them to host it, i've used them a few times for different websites

First off register your domain name with a site like www.freeparking.com this normally costs around £15.00 for 2 years. Then when you find a host site you can use your domain name with them.

I got 15mb of web space free with my blueyonder (Virgin media) account, perhaps your ISP offers free web space? It might pay to check it out.

THx for the replies. Its more the actually setting up of the web page i'm concerned about.
Is the one.com easy to do?
Tried to get my head around HTML a few years ago and gave up...!

Try downloading some free web templates (Google search). I built this webpage for a mate a couple of years ago www.lodge6lochlomond.co.uk. Nothing flash but it gets him bookings!

Have you tried using the evil multinational corporate *spit spit* Microsoft Publisher (or even Power Point?).

You can design each individual page as you like, link them together and then save the file as a web page.

You can make them as complicated as you like (the help files are pretty reasonable and anything you can't find there usually has a walk through on the web) with various bits of videos, flash animations from freeware sites, etc. It might take you a while to get to grips with it but once you're familiar you can whack some pretty impressive stuff together.

I usually use stuff like this for holding the basic structure of lessons together (to keep me from going off on too many tangents...!)

                  http://www.avanquest.com/UK/software...ional-8-101665

I used this to get started but there are many programs that do the same.
but the link may give you some idea of what you need.

I use Serif WebPlus X4 but what started a simple website ended 175 pages.
www.passpoint.co.uk but it is easy all drag and drop, copy & paste stuff.

                  hope it helps.

I had one going for a while, trouble is, spiders come around and steal all the good pictures. It's also difficult to get original stuff unless you make the films/pics yourself, which is time consuming.
This new xxx domain will be interesting.
Are you doing general porn or specialist stuff?

                      ooh 'eck I've gone 3W

Well, had a crack at a site using one.com. Once I'd got my head around the new terminology, I've got it sorted.
As always thoughts please, and do be honest, but remember this is purely to show off my abilities as a Builder, not a web designer.
