Don't get me wrong, just throwing my opinion in. Totally agree each to his own.

As for tattoos, love good ones, hate bad ones. Sadly most fall in the latter camp.

i spoke to the exhaust man about having them exit up behind the rear seat and then vent out the roof - he said yeah its possible but would be about 2k and a few days work to get right, so gave up on that idea...
Nearly bought an ex USAF king cab pick up, it was huge, i would have needed a big drive to park it on lol.

awesome Vince, that'll look cool - i'm really tempted to get the rear doors welded up and plated too.. (lexurf in first)

my mate built this from a 5dr passat estate, still very much work in progress, but going for a paint soon when he sortes the old style dash out..

loads of metal fab work gone into it, not to everyones cup of tea, but i like it and will superb when painted,

I have photoshopped the surf as a van and it does look good.. cant find the pic at the mo..

Love the look of that Passat, always liked to look of panel vans. Doesn't the tailgate open the wrong way though?
I want to put a Lexus V8 into a Morris Minor estate one day and panel over the side windows.

i do too mate, i think panel vans look great, quite a bit of work to get them right especially with the roof curve and not distoring the roof on the surf..

i really want to do mine

more info on the passat here

everything is custom made on it, even the tailgate, made from 2 then split, rear door hinges so it looks stock when shut, he was going to o it like the surf ones, but then would have had to mod the bumper.. check out the dash tho, its custom made form metal too..

lexorris LSvan would be something else, like your thinking there...

there is a guy on retro rides dropping a lex into a mitsubishi starion and adding a turbo and megasquirt - that'll be intersting...

I think the four door set up looks much better Vince. Just my opinion though!

I thought my dash idea was adventurous!
How did he find time to make a baby?

I meant the wrong way as in it swings the wrong way. When open you have to walk around it to get to the kerb. Still looks great though, thought about doing the same thing to the truck, but I carry lengths of worktop sometimes so need the tailgate to lay it on.

Entertaining if rather 'redneck' thread chaps, but you MUST be able to see some irony in putting the words 'original' and 'flames and skulls' in the same thread?

ha ha - yeah - I've never once claimed to be original, as said, Matt Black, Flames, Skulls is anything but original... tried n tested designs, hence putting up links to some other threads..

I've been into hot rods etc since a kid, one do my dreams was to travel route 66, so 4 years ago we did it, but by Harley too

I posted up some of my plans for my truck, never once claimed it to be original, never will.. Its mine and I love it..

yeah i know what you mean, if i got one, I'd be tempted to take a mould from it, then have a silicone based copy on the front sprayed up silvery chrome colours.. then if its nicked who cares - even fetching form the states is still best part of £100 for it - which is a lot of dosh for a hood ornament!

How long ago was your Tat done out of interest?

Everything has been done before, hardly anything is new these days, people have been buggering about with cars to long, pick almost anything out of your head, I bet you'd find it with a quick google images.

Personally I don't give a **** if somethings been done before, I do things cos I like them, whether it's copied or freshly thought up, not to be first or 'special', thats just for posers.

I like the Van Surf lots, that'll get filled away for the future.
