Have you got any more info on where the photo was taken, what of, etc?

I've got a few geologist friends who might be able to give me a few pointers but I'd like to have a bit more info before I ask them for you...

Looks like the marks made when chipping ice off the path with a spade. December 2010 maybe

                      Marks in stone

daft question,Is the stone now in a wall, cant tell from the photo

Just had a look outside, they could just be chisel marks made by the mason as the piece was being cut to size, def not a masons mark, too many of them

They were made last week, by a lady in a brand new Range Rover. She was attempting to reverse into a parking bay about 10 feet away from the wall........Cheers....Mick.

its on the other side of this rock

i could just do with it dateing i have a date in mind but iam looking for it so i could make the wrong answer to suiet my needs

and its in rotherham of cause
i have maps going back has far has 1610 and theres nothing there then
the quarry its self i think was made by monks
its what they built with the stone is what iam intrested in
theres one recorded account about the abby and its very brief

i have found the road ways in and out of the quarry and 3 very large copp peaced beach trees along the way
it all pionts towards one place dalton magna
magna means great in latian in dalton magna theres a part called the dene
now thats gets me thinking has the monks dont have denes
