hello all had a go at fitting the outter cv boot yesterday have read the info on here but do you have to seperate the ball joints to get it off.

No. Jack up and put on axel stands, remove the wheel, remove the central cap and set screw, remove the six nuts, cone washers and hub, remove the circlip, slacken and remove the six big bolts by the diff and the drive shaft will now come off if you jack up the disc so's the bottom wishbone is about parallel with the road. Driver's side is easier than near side.

Once off, there is another circlip in the inner CV joint which will allow the shaft to be removed from the inner CV joint (be carefull the internals do not seperate while doing this). Now BOTH boots can be changed, not worth doing one for the sake of £8 when you've gone to all this trouble, and then do the reverse to put back together.

For the sake of safety I'd only have one wheel off the ground at once. The hubs can be a bit of a pain and I think it might make life easier to remove the anti roll bar from the bottom wishbone if it will come without too much effort.

No doubt I've missed something but someone else will let you know about that.
