Hi guys, finally picked up a decent Surf although technically it belongs to the missus, were having some trouble finding decent priced insurance and wondered if there are any specialists for imports, trouble is the missus has 9 points and 2 recent claims on her licesne so people are quoting us 800 quid for her. :S

Just keep ringing her mobile when she is driving. She will pick up another three points in no time, and then you won't have to worry about insuring her...

There are masses of posts re insurance. Try a search. Adrian Flux (though people seem to be having issues with them recently), Sureterm, etc etc. I am with Sureterm and they seem very good.

we're with Fluxy already they were the only people who would insure her on a 4x4 pickup truck for sdp use, its them who quoted us 840 quid.

annoyingly i can get insurance fully comp for under £200 from them, but they go mad when she is added, her stupid ex husband told her it was a good idea to claim for the damage on a people carrier she owned before she sold it so that she got more money for it, made it worth about 300 quid more but costs more than that every year in extra insurance premiums.

        Sureterm Direct here also.
        Just renewed this week.

All mods declared, parked on the road, Euro 90 day insurance with Euro relay back to my house/garage near me, fully comprehensive for both me and my wife. Only been driving 5 years and I'm 30 all for £295.

Give 'em a shout, I've never had trouble with them.

        Cheers,

        Ray.
I've got a plan and it's as hot as my pants!

Well, that's part of the deterrant when it comes to speeding I guess?
                  Points don't always mean prizes!

yeah, its here own fault, all three of em were 30mph speed cameras and all three of them she was well under 40mph, plus two minor claims, one where she scuffed the side of her people carrier down a tree in her mums front garden and one where she nudged a car at a junction but the guy insisted on claiming rather than letting me pay for a new number plate and reverse light.

she's not blameless, but shes hardly a menace on the roads.

If I were a contrary type, I might suggest that while 70mph limits are a waste of time, 30mph limits tend to be quite important. And that once is unfortunate, twice is careless...

                        But fortunately I'm not.

wasn't me, two are hers and one was her ex husband.

I agree, i have had a clean license for over ten years, i had a misspent youth and managed to tot up 142 points at my highest, i learnt my lesson.

As it happens though she's not a bad driver, just dont take things seriously enough, i have seen enough badness after 20 years of driving all day everyday to be carefull.

She thought it was all quite funny until yesterday when she realised she may not be able to get insurance on the Surf at a price we can sensibly afford, I just told her if she wants it insured she can take the money out of the wedding fund to pay for it so now she's sulking.
