After market intercooler performance

I was wondering if those who have fitted an intercooler have noticed any real performance difference in power and fuel consumption.

I have searched the subject but was really interested to here of the thoughts of those having used it for some time.

Is it worth doing? Would you do it again?

I was about to fit one to my 2.4 in an attempt to gain some extra power but then went and got a 3 litre.
