My initial thoughts on your cupboard. If you intend to stud the wall out and recess the tele into it, have you considered closing off the top part of the cupboard with short double doors , open up the bottom with shelves, then mount the television on an angle bracket so under normal circumstances the upper cupboard is hidden by the tele but can be moved out the way when access is required to the electrics,
the shelves can be used for holding dvd player, video player, games machine etc the extra space created by the studding could house all the cabling to create a neat finish. The drawback with this is the possibillity that the tele might be to high though it could be angled for comfortable viewing.
