I would like that, although I could live with a separate switch next to the rotary one.

4th gear I'll never see that!

right i think with 5 relays and a rotary switch i have got all the ''gears''

TC lockup can be done quite easy with a multi pole rotary switch using the first set of poles to control the relays for the gears and the second set to control a relay and the TC

Does it have a kick-down cable and is it adjusted correctly?

It does have a cable, and I have connected it.

Whether I have correctly adjusted it will be worth checking.

Usually, a tight (inner) cable will cause an auto transmission to shift too early and sometimes miss 1st gear altogether.

Aha, No, it's not that Vince, There is nothing to tell the box what to do (when it's in Drive)
The reason I can't select first is that the box selector goes

                        P
                        R
                        D
                        3
                        1-2

So when I select 1-2, it only goes into 2.
