  • PTFE tape or fibre washer ?

Ok got me cooler and got me adapters to fit 10 pipe to.
What would you recomend for sealing adapters to cooler ?
White ptfe tape around thread or fibre washer inside adaptor against face of cooler threaded bit ?

Or both for added arse covering...........

Doesn't look like a tapered thread, so I don't think you would need PTFE.

Both to be safe & use gas PTFE as it's thicker.

      That's what I'd do anyway.
If its not broke don't fix it.

Yarse, Thread sealant will work, but I think a washer would suffice.

Could you show pics of the fittings end on, as it looks like BSP, in which case nothing extra is required other than correct tightening.

Yep, I did delete 'Nothing' before I wrote 'Stag'. A wee bit of paste won't go wrong though, will help stop the threads forom being damaged too.

Paul, you've bought the wrong fittings.
The cooler has a female cone shape and the correct (swivel) fittings have a male cone shape so are self sealing.

Feck... wrong fittings.....suppose i can set it all up with the ones i have and use some ptfe tape, then order new ones and change them later.

But think thats the least of my worries, did a test fit and the only place that i can find that the cooler will fit is smack bang in the middle of the rad behind the central upright.
Took picture, but after putting grill back on the damned picture didn't come out.
If thats the only place it will fit thats where its going.
Sure i have seen some race cars with 2 or 3 coolers including intercooler mounted in front of rad so can't be that bad.

Did read on aussie site that placing the cooler hard against the rad is the best way as it allows the fan to drag air through when stood still in traffic.
But they seem to use snakey slim coolers just zippy tied to the rad.

My cooler fits perfectly in the valance behind the number plate, theres even holes to bolt it to, works great, a little too good over the winter as it takes a good few miles before the temps get up enough for lock up but at least it'll do the biz during the summer. H

                            I used 1/2" bsp to 1/2" (13mm) hose, then 12mm to 10mm straight reducer.
