  • Biggest tyres on standard alloys

I've been using the search button for the last hour or so, loads of advice and help, but no definitive answer.

Will 35's fit on the standard 4 spoke alloys on a gen 2? Some say yes, some say I need other rims, even for 33's.

One more stupid question, my bodylift has arrived, but when I fit it (2") will I have a big gap between the bumper and the grille?

    It's good isn't it!

It depends on the width - 12.5" wide tyres SHOULD have 10" wide rims (people have fitted them to thinner rims but it's not a good idea)
If your tyres are 35" high but only 9" wide then they will fit (I don't think you can get that size of tyre though)

Yes - You need to make some brackets

Crap! The tyres I'm looking at are 35x12.5! So sounds like I need new rims too!

As for the bodylift, 2" is sounding quite involved, I'm thinking I go for the 3" and be done with it! I know I'll go bigger eventually anyway, if I have 2".
Still waiting for my suspension lift to turn up.

You'll need 10X15" wheels to fit 35" tyres and stay safe.

2" is easy - 3" mean changing loads of parts

Yeah, but I figure, while I'm making brackets for the bumper, I might as well be done with it and do the brake pipes, shifter, etc.

I need to be certain that 35x12.5 tyres are going to fit with a 2" body and 2" suspension lift. Plus, the weight of the winch up front.

Am I right in thinking the standard are 8x15"?

35" tyres will not fit with a 2" sus and a 2" body lift.

Superb, that cleared that up easily! 3" body and 3" suspension lift it is. I take it 35's will fit then?

Is there a how to on a 3"bodylift anywhere, or something telling me EVERYTHING I will need.

35" tyres on a 2.4! You'd better not be in a hurry to get anywhere fast mate.

Oh and don't attempt any steep hills!

It has been done before but it will mean a lot of tweaking.
                          1. use the biggest diammeter bolts you fan find,re drill body lift blocks to accept the bolts as well as re drilling the floor pan and mounting plates.
2.rad brackets and bumper brackets will need to be fabbed.
                          3. fuel tank filler and breather hoses will need to be lengthened.
4.steering column will need to be lengthened.
5.gear linkages if manual will need lengthening as well as transfer box levers.
6.if auto shift lever will need adjusting.
7.handbrake lever will need adjusting and brackets moved.
8.front brake lines will need uncoiling.(look for the small coil just above the chassis rail on the front.)
9.check all fuel lines and coolant lines wiring etc,as you lift for clearance.they do snag.
10 metal work will need to be removed from around the transfer lever area and front bulkhead where the steering column goes through.

Having done a 2" body lift, the above would be a challenge and not a pleasant one at that, not straight forward mods either...

I say, imho, unless you're really insistent on 3" then go for 2", and have it done in 3 or 4 hours.

BJ's, coil spacers, no ARBs and wound up coils "might" allow 34x12.50's but these strange sizes are only generally av from the states, I've read.
