  • Ford remote central locking..

Ford Mondeo 2005, remote central locking not working on both keys (batteries fine). Central locking works using old skool key in door method. Thought it was the micro switches in one key when it was playing up earlier in the week, but now it's stopped working completely. Thankfully the car starts and drives.
    Anybody any pointers ?

I'm far from being an expert BUT ...

Both keys playing up suggests there's a problem with the receiver in the car (NSS!) I'd start by having a google to see if there's any history of that sort of fault and try to find a method of resetting/rematching the keys to the car

Life is too important to take seriously !

Think it's the receiver, as the keys had batteries checked/replaced earlier this week. I had thought it was the key, as one key worked at the time. Then it miraculously came right for a few days. Today both keys won't do anything. Presuming it's a dodgy connection to the RF receiver, but I have no idea where it is.
        Ford, gotta love them...

It's most likely crap on the button contacts. You'll need to pry open the key and clean where the buttons contact the circuit board with a cotton bud and nail varnish remover.

Nah, two separate key fobs, both working yesterday, both not working now.

So you're going to even try what I said?

Well, earlier this week, having opened up both keys (one of which is a spare, and has never been used),and replaced one duff battery, the fault in the RCL was still present, then miraculously cleared itself later. Today, after opening the boot via key fob, it all stopped working again, regardless of which fob I tried. For this reason, I am presuming it is not the fobs at fault.
I shall try disassembling the fobs and cleaning the contacts tomorrow (I've been out all afternoon until now) and report back !

Right, been through the contact cleaning process, unfortunately to no avail. I also referenced this article, with attention to the post by birkee:

Now the wife needs the car for the rest of the day, so I can progress no further.
