  • 3rd gen ICE question

Can someone please tell me the size of the door speakers, both rear and front on a 3rd gen.
This would save me the hassle of removing my door panel to measure.
Or can I just get the size from measuring the grills?
By the way, the rears appear to be smaller that the fronts

    Thanks
    BPS

6.5" front (165mm) - Components for the front (separate tweeter by A-pillar)
    4" rear (100mm)

Also beware that the original mount holes are drilled for long mounting tabs to the speakers, so when you fit another speaker with shorter tabs, the holes won't line up (some drilling and filling to do).

      Nice one Jim
Does the tweeters in the pillar mean I don't need coaxial speakers in the front?
Meaning should I use 2 way or 3 way speakers?

Not if you are installing components, no. The original speakers are components IIRC, with a crossover between them to separate the frequencies. I got me some Blaupunkts from bluespotaudio.co.uk which were a steal, and some Kenwood 4" 3-ways for the back.

All fed from a Sony amp under the passenger seat. Ultimately I want more bass and will be putting in a tube shortly, if I get a dry weekend.

            Yep, them.

They are not as good as my £200 quid Focals that I have in the Saab, but they are good value @ that price.

            IMHO.

              Did you use crossovers ?

yes - those are component speakers so come with a bass/mid 165mm driver, a crossover box for inside the door, and a tweeter for the A-pillar.
