  • hi newbie here

hello to all out there,i do not own a surf yet, just been searching the forum for advice on what to look for when buying one,and there is a lot of great advice on here, you have a great forum here.

i will be looking to buy a surf later on this year,as my pug 406 estate which i have had for the past 4yrs,needed some welding for its MOT this year, and in my opinion when you start welding a car its time for it to move on.

i have looked at surfs in the past, but always been scared off by the head probs, but now the 3 litre prices are coming down a bit, thats what i will be looking for.

i have 4 springer spaniels which is why i need a large estate, also work them at a local estate in shooting season.

Hi mate, I similarly disposed of a 406 estate after getting an off the record advisory on the rear subframe. Best car I've ever had for consumption and general hardiness. But now I have a 3rd gen Surf, and it goes absolutely any where the Landys and Rangeys go, heaps of room in the back for dogs, and runs quite happily on veg oil. Excellent choice for anyone involved in shooting !!

I had a peugo. 306...sedan. I had it when I started work in Scotland. It was a bit of a crate, but a reliable crate, none the less.
              Non intercooled nothing.

Unless you're doing a drive by as the acceleration isn't good enough for a quick get away!

                        hi diesel weasil,

i hope the surf i eventually get will be my best car so far,

im just thinking about what i need to have to hand,

trans cooler, engine oil cooler,a kenlowe fan,

has anybody had an uprated radiator built for a surf?

probably a bit of overkill there, but it should"nt overheat with that lot fitted.

Hello Roger. Welcome to the forum. If you are scrapping your old 406 estate, why not save the roof bars. A few people on here have fitted them to their Surfs, and they look great......Cheers....Mick.
