My idea of a good time

I went rooting around a military junkyard today.
Originally went to find some leaf springs for a friends truck.
I love those places, I ended up with a parachute, 4 jerrycans and some ammo boxes!!!
Going back again tomorrow.

I've got a military scrappy just up the road from me but it seems to be just vehicles there (mostly lorries).

I bet yours is much more interesting!

I loved the bit on Top Gear the other week when they were using an abandoned Hungarian airfield for a drag race and found loads of rotting MiGs.

They sell all the metal stuff for scrap value, piles of helmets (ooh err)
Lots of Artillery shells, camo nets, tank engines.
I paid just under 3 quid each for the jerrycans.
I'm going back tomorrow because they were closing, + my missus wants a butchers.

I wish that I'd been about near the Abingdon plane scrappy in the late 50's/early 60's. There were a bunch of Spitfires being cut up for ally scrap...
