  • Panhard rod bolt removal...

    Hi there folks.

I'm having a wee bit of trouble fitting my panhard rod drop bracket (4crawler one if anyone is interested).

The problem is that I can't seem to shift the bolt at the top end of the panhard rod (ie drivers side). The nut has come off easy as pie but the bolt doesn't seem to want to shift.

I tried loading up the back end as much as possible given what I had easily available at the time (wheel, big f00kin' heavy trolley jack and two large adults) but the bolt STILL didn't want to be hammered out.

Since I've packed up I've thought that maybe using spring compressors might help but has anyone got any other ideas to aid removal of this bolt?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Plenty of release oil and a bfh tomorrow. Take the other end off to unload the bolt.

mine was the same - the bolts seized to the steel tube in the bush.

burn the bush out and the heat frees the bolt - works every time.

fills the shed with smoke and stinks a bit though

That is definitely a possibility if I buy replacement bushes...

I'll give it the (BFH/lots of fat people) treatment tomorrow afternoon and if that doesn't work I'll order the bushes and sort it next weekend.

          Thanks for the comments/help everyone.

Remember to take the other end off first. That way you won't need fat friends.

They mostly are a bugger to get off, its big reason why I cut, sleeve and reweld them on the truck, is usually quicker!
