Gen1 to gen 2 parts upgrade on 1989 2.4td man

OK I'm an excited newbie who's just got the 'surf bug'

I was wondering parts can I use from a gen or even gen 3 on my gen 1 to give it a bit of a facelift?

In particular?
Interior - dash, heater controls, switches, electric ariel??, seats
Tyres / wheels: Current: std alloys with 215x80x15 AT tyres

Everything on car is bog standard/worn/dated, any suggestions to give it am updated look would be appreciated
Car is: June 1989 2.4td 5spd manual (last of the Mk1's I think)

Assuming the condition is OK, if I had a standard Gen 1, I would keep it like that - maybe just "butch " it up a bit with bigger wheels and tyres etc, but not change anything that couldn't easily be changed back.
