  • Off roading Q.......

    How important is articulation?

When I did my RT coils I didn't bother putting new +2 shocks on, and I wondered if it is worth/needs doing?

Could this be a reason for me popping the bracket that holds the rear rollbar drop link on drivers side?

The rear roll bar brackets do seem to be a weak spot - one of mine lost a bolt and ruined the bracket recently (was picked up on mot)

A lot of people here just remove the rear bar and the stiffer rear springs compensate for the extra roll.

Grip is king in the slippy stuff, and articulation important on the rough stuff.

Your shocks could get extended to there limits if they are too short for the springs.
Do you still have the rear ARB on? This would limit the 'drop' of the axle so shorter springs might not be an issue but when you lift a wheel you will loose traction.

I have +2 procomps and LC springs and get a lot of articulation but every truck has it's limits, just see what it can do and then make mods to suit your style of offroading.

I have both ARB's off, never an issue at MOT time.

I had no idea I could just take it off?? No probs by doing this then?

If it's not there they can't check it (works for spare wheels too)

I'm very surprised by this! Does it handle noticeably different tho?

I'll say yes but there will be loads of people here who say the uprated springs are so much stiffer that you won't notice it.

To be fair it's noticable but not awful. The front roll bar is 100% noticable and horrible to drive without.

The above is based on milners uprated rear springs with 1 1/4" spring spacers, +2" procomp es9000's all round and ironman uprated torsion bars with 4crawler 3/4" balljoint spacers.

A but do you have a spare on a roofrack?

Surely it's negated by the heavy front and rear tube bumpers hint hint ?
