      Hi!
And just for clarification, the shiny metal bit that attaches to the rear of the Surf is called a bumper, not an engine!

And I was doing some reading up last night and people in South America are apparently putting the new Toyota 1GE engines in the 4 runners...
      Oh Nana, what's my name?

            hi everyone

I decided on a v8 before I decided to buy a surf lol

already have a ls400 ready and waiting just need to find the time to start the project. :-)

was pretty happy when this came up local without an engine so snapped it up

now just to decide if I should turbo it straight away or leave it for a bit lol

Fair play to you, I have the utmost respect for people like vince etc who can remove standard and replace with bigger/more powerful motors.
I've tried it and it's 'kinard!!

Good luck finding room in there for one turbo let alone two!

Americans are putting turbos in the wheel arches and now they are putting them under the boot. I said the second option is just plain stupid and couldn't possibly make any power but apparently it can be better than a regular 4 to 1 manifold / turbo setup.

Even still, some Saab engines (V6) have the turbo on one bank only and it's a reasonable distance from the exhaust ports.

Looks like a 2.0 Cosworth to me.

                            No V8 there!

No room for turbos in here, and this has a 2" bodylift.

The biggest headache with fitting the 1UZ into a Surf's engine compartment is keeping them cool.
I cut out some of the inner wheel arches to allow the heat to escape plus I fit 16" 2200 cfm fans in front of the radiators. This is just enough to keep temps down to 88 degrees under normal conditions. A vent or vents in the bonnet also helps a lot, creates a good airflow through the rad too.
