  • Ouch! Insurance due.

Just got my quote from Lifesure, £533.00 fully comp. Last year it was £278.00!! Apparently NIG don't do the cover any more and they have found me 'the next best'. Adrian Flux quotes me £478.00 on the info I've supplied over the 'net. Phone for a better deal.
Anybody got a good deal anywhere else! Still waiting for another quote to come in, but £533.00 sounds a bit excessive.

It's an absolute nightmare isn't it?

Doesn't matter how many times you tell them over the phone they still ask the same old stupid questions.

"For the last time, no! It is not a 4 runner and it is not a pick up and it is not a land cruiser, it is a surf"

"So is it a 4 runner then?"

      "Grrrr"

Try A Plan, after wanting nearly £500 to renew, I managed to beat them down to £200 (took three months tho). The truck is now on a specialist policy with restricted milage.

Unfortunatley if this doesn't work you'll just have to bend over and take it, as I found out for the Mondeo, where even transferring my maximum NCD from the Surf, only got it to the same level as last years policy which had 2 years NCD.
        Gone from 4x4 to 1x2

I have used cashback sites for my insurance and online shopping for the last few years - used to use Quidco, but they take £5 a year, so now use Topcashback.
My 4runner cost me £245.85 minus £80 cashback, so £165.85 fully comp, protected NCB with the RAC. That was in November.(RAC are only giving £55 c/b ATM)
            http://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/member111297858507

From Quidco I've had about £950 back over the last 3 years
Here's what I've got from Topcahback since Nov:

            e2save
            £15.37
            New Look
            £0.80
New Vista Live (Formerly It's Your View)
            £0.01
Powerplay Direct Until 06 Jan 2011
            £0.59
            RAC Car Insurance
            £80.00
            Superdrug
            £3.09
            The HighStreet Web
            £0.04
            Thorntons
            £4.04
            TOTAL £103.94

Of course, always check that you can't get a better deal without cashback - just one year I did find a better deal on house insurance.

In case you don't understand cashback, it's how Compare the Meerkat, Confused.com. MoneySupermarket etc make their money. For sending you to a site where you make a purchase, they get a "referral fee" - this can be over £100 - (the first year I did my house ins with Barclays i got £125 c/b)
The cashback sites give you the referral fee - or some of it anyway

Also note that you have to make sure sites can put tracking cookies on your computer - so if you do try this, read the instructions on the website - if your transaction doesn't track, you don't get the cashback.

              Re my insurance: Cashback?

Wow, thanks for the info guy's, I really need to sort this insurance out today/tomorrow, (whoever's available on Saturday). My problem is I work shifts and only get home gone 9.00pm, can't really use the phone for long at work either.)
This cashback thingy sounds pretty good, but the tracking cookies worry me a bit! Does that mean every time you surf 'big daddy' is watching you? Do you forfit all private browsing? (if there is such a thing any more!)
I'll give the others a go where possible. Sad thing is, I've done 4 on line quote questionaires, and up to now only Adrian Flux has got back to me.

Give Sky insurance a try mate. Tell em you are a member on here and get extra discount. Came in way below what Flux wanted off me last year.

LOL, A Flux insured our heavily modded truck for £280 fully comp, about 3 months ago, ended up with the Westfield, and Scooby and the truck with them now, as they gave us more money off for having multiple cars with them.

Having said that, Linda has just bought a Transit Connect for a dog van, and they wanted £400 for it, she got it for £180 with Elephant!

Prices are pretty random, even for the same place on different days.

I've found there is no shortcut for decent insurance quote, you have to ring round, every year, to all the same places, each year one place that was outragous one year is very good value next time.

Think a lot of companys will give a good quote/discount for new business thinking that they will be able to claw it back in the following years, a lto of folk cant be bothered to shop around every year.

Nope - in fact you must you delete your cookies everytime you make a new purchase to make room for the new cookie I don't know whether you clean up your cookies anyway - if you don't your PC will have millions on there, so using cashback sites actually makes you clean off this crap.

I agree with you mate, New Buisness usually gets a better quote as 80% of people cannot be A$$ed to search around.

However Flux did me the best deal on the truck I could find. Will be asking them to look at the bike this year as well because I will finally have one years NCB.
                        Always room for more power!!!!

Just tried to register my details with Ecar, and every time I put my gender in,
the previous entries change around, ie my date of birth changes, and a bit more data I've already entered will change, spooky!!! It's as though 'the computer says no', you are no that old, you are older.(actaually, that would explain why I'm always so knackered!). I hate automated forms!!!

                              Yikes, is that fully comp?
I was with them for years, then fell out with them over 'as long as your a named driver your earning your own no claims' p.r. stunt. However, try to take that n.c.b. to another firm, and D.Line won't issue a note to say your entitled to say, 3 years n.c.b. If youve actually only been on your own cover for 1 year. (you've earned the other two either on your mommy's/daddy's insurance if you get my meaning!)
They also told me they don't do grey imports when I first got my truck!
