Original toyota pads or aftermarket

Hi guys.

Changing brake pads. Looking on roughtrax website they do toyota ones for £30
or after market for £16

Are the Toyota ones worth twice the price?

Any one have any experiance with after market pads from Roughtrax?

I always use the toyota one from r-traxs, last longer than the cheaper ones + when it comes to brakes you don't want to skimp for the sake of a few quid.

Last time I changed mine I used Mintex ones I got from eBlag, and they were excellent! Cheap as chips too!

I have the cheap pads from Milners. Might as well of put pieces of mahogany in the calipers. They are coming out very soon.
Going to try the Toyota pads on recommendation from other forum members.

Im also changing the steering idler as its very sloppy, truck pulling to the left.

Am i right in thinking i need a ball joint splitter. If so will a standard Halfords scissor type do the job?

they aint dear at toyota anyway so why go anywere else
toyota sell peace of mind for 5 years and they are cheap too

i would like to see anywere else garantee brake shoes and disk fopr 5 years
now thats when you know they have there heart inti

No, 2 hammers will suffice.

Yes, if you must. If you feel you have to use one, the scissor ones are better than the fork ones. Usually still needs a whack with a hammer though. Most folk, who don't understand what they are doing, just tighten the bolt on the scissor ones into oblivion.

got my last 2 sets of front pads from Milners and they were "Blue Print".

Have no issues and they last a couple of years (fronts do most of the braking and with it being an auto as well doesn't help)

never looked at going to Toyota (main dealer prices normally scare me)

Just got a price from local Toyota dealer, £78.95

Think ill go to rough trax to get them, original toyota pads about £43 with vat and postage.
