  • Gen 2 steering whel question

Now please dont shout - i've just searched about 12 pages of 'search thread's and of course there is thousands under steering wheel

simple question, would another toyota steering wheel bolt straight on, something like one from a 90's mr2 as example

or will it have to be an aftermarket wheel with boss kit?

just driving my daily, nice chunky big wheel, getting in the surf the wheel feels to skinny for a big truck

    any help would be appreciated

    thanks

Yes. That was easy wasn't it? I will dig a picture and more details out. Hold on....

Right, have a look on this site. It's actually about boss adaptors for Momo steering wheels, but any steering wheel with the same number as a Surf (7715) will be interchangeable with a Surf.

    http://www.upgrademotoring.com/seats.../momo_hubs.htm

I did that very thing and bought a wheel from an MR2 on ebay for a fiver. It made so much difference it was ridiculous.

mine has the original leather one, the leather is getting a little worn tho, but not yet split

i just find it a little thin for my huge hands..

could be interested in a swap, what you got?

thanks for the info and the link Sancho - i might just get mysef an mr2 one as well as that looks great

Dont go too small - they're shit offroad, getting torn out of your hands all the time, and harder to accurately steer.

thats why i asked about the others as all the aftermarket ones are tiny

i just want a chunkier wheel as i feel like i'll break the standard leather one..

the one in my passat is twice as thick and much much nicer.

How about a 3rd gen or Landcruiser wheel? Both should fit OK. Would have to remove the airbag from the 3rd gen type though.
