According to my records, You have an un-recovered Wellington not far from your house Craig? also two Halifax a mk 1 and 111, the Lancaster ex Pocklington we have lots of bits at Aeroventure but don't know the main site I think they were recovered close to that roundabout where we turned towards Beverly/Leconfield, Nigel thinks the Wimpey may be on the edge of the golf course ? (sorry Wellington) Don't really like doing wreck digs its a case of you may be uncovering a war grave and stuff, It's not the same as crash and smash recovering a jet or helo and picking up soggy bits

I think the fact that where you live is right in the middle of Heavy Bomber country , the place is littered with wrecks from Pocklington Driffield Leconfield, Snaith,
the list is endless We only touched on this subject when we bought 'From Hull, Hell, and Halifax' by the then midland book publishers, Plus my uncle was Mid upper gunner on Lancs.
anyway with all that kit you've got you could dig up East Yorks in no time at all !
Oh and how much to pay the gate guard to look the other way so we can nick the Stolly ?

Bloke I know by the name of Steve Race, who is the maintanance manager for the Weardale Railway, is into digging up old aircraft. He is always telling me that there are quite a few up on the North Pennines in upper Teesdale area. I walk the fells up that way quite a bit but have never seen any evidence on the ground, but most of the land up there is very wet and peat'y so anything that came down up there must have sunk a long way down on impact. Another thing that we have up here is the Great Whinsill, a huge slab of volcanic rock that runs all the way up from Yorkshire to north Northumberland, lots of limestone as well. There is a black limestone found near to where I live known as Frosterley Marble, very attractive it is too, used quite a lot in churches. Good example in Durham Catherdal, built by the Normans that was. Its getting on for a thousand years old and is a world heritage site, has the tomb of St Cuthbert and his mate Aiden. Havent heard of any gold being found around here exept fools gold, plenty of that in the old lead mines up in Weardale and Teesdale, and lots of spar, not the shops, but a pretty crystal. The old lead miners used to make spar boxes, sort of 3D pictures, as a hobby. Must have been awful on those cold winter nights, miles away from anywhere.Christ I must get a life or go back to work

my house is biuld on walker land all that is left of it now is clifton park
                                http://www.cliftonpark.org.uk/welcome.htm
the walker family made the plough and the cannon
the walker cannon is still found all around to world from ship wrecks to staitly homes

my house its self was the dump for eastwood house were sarha walker lived
i find all sorts of bones in my garden has eastwood house had its own butcher
who dumped the waiste on my garden for over 300 years
not the same butcher of cause

i also find bits of roman history too
1 roman coin a roman dice and a hair pin
                                2-3ft deep

if i go deeper i come across the old beartch forest that stud here
                                5-6ft deep
with a stream going right down my garden
                                5-6ft deep

and at the deepest i have been is 8-9 foot
at 7 ft i found a red oak cask about an arm in lenth
i put it back has i had it mind that it could be a grave of some sort

after that i hit bed rock a fossil the size unknown sit on a on slope that looks fish like
but it has defo got some sort of strap going along it
i took a peace and coved the rest has it was getting too deep
i did this when i was well
when i first got this house it had 28 years of crap in the garden
under that there was a large man shape made out of bricks
once i removed that i dug out the large hump or hill at the back of the garden
after 1994 eastwood house was knocked down and bungalows were biult there
a hill was made to form a back for the estate

well it stops nextdoor but my house had this hill too
so i set about dugging it out and weeding my garden has i went
this took me 3 years every day
has i started from the path at the house and dug the whole garden out bit by bit
19 skips of crap later and 5 skips of stone from a round biulding i took out of my garden
2 motor bikes realy old things half a car unknown what car
                                about 8 radio grames
                                countless bottles
                                and a few human bones
after the counsel lady had come to check out my work
                                she was over the moon
with the gate i dug out and a 7ft wall at the back of my house
                                yes i found a 7 ft wall

i have loads of photos of the work i did to this garden

after that i made a mini stonehenge in the front garden all alined in the proper way too so it lined up once a year

my front garden was a show peace
i had people coming here just for a photo

then i past my test and got a surf and made it a drive
